Secrets are the soul of the show

Magicians protect their methods because a secret, once out, can't be put back in the hat. This is how we teach magic without giving it away.

Draft. Awaiting review by our resident magician.

Our promises

  • We only teach what is ours to teach

Lessons here are traditional, public domain, or widely published for beginners. When a routine belongs to a living creator, we teach it only with their permission, and we say so on the page.

  • We credit creators

If a trick, a move or an idea has a creator, we name them. The Elmsley count is called that for a reason.

  • We describe, then point the way

For commercial tricks and modern published routines, we describe the effect and send you to the creator's book or product. We never reveal the method.

  • We link to the source

Performances link to where their creators or rights holders published them. We don't re-host anyone's work.

What we ask of you

  1. Practice before you perform. A trick done badly gives away more than a trick never done.
  2. Keep the secret. When someone asks how it's done, the kindest answer is a smile.
  3. Buy from creators. Pirated downloads take money from the people who invent the magic you love.
  4. Never perform to embarrass someone. Magic should leave people feeling delighted, not foolish.
